Why academic translation is different
Academic writing has conventions that vary significantly by discipline and by language. A thesis introduction in English follows different structural expectations than its Spanish equivalent. An article submitted to a Spanish journal needs to read as if it was written in Spanish, not translated from English.
We assign academic work to translators with relevant academic backgrounds. A life sciences paper goes to a translator with a biology or chemistry degree. A humanities thesis to someone from the relevant discipline. This is not a luxury. It is the difference between a translation that passes peer review and one that does not.
Literary translation
Fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction require a different kind of precision than technical translation. Accuracy to the source text matters, but so does the rhythm, register, and emotional effect of the target text. We work with experienced literary translators who understand this distinction.
For books under contract with a publisher, we are happy to work within the publisher's house style and coordinate with editorial teams.
Formats we handle
Word documents, PDFs, LaTeX files, and plain text. We return academic work in the same format as the source. Book manuscripts in Word or similar. If your publisher or institution has a specific format requirement, tell us and we work to it.
Delivery: Standard turnaround is 3-5 business days for texts up to 5,000 words. Larger academic projects quoted individually with a project schedule.
